The Tower attachment is a more compact version of the Pilates Cadillac.  Unlike the Reformer bed which uses a moveable carriage to challenge your balance and stability, the sturdy frame of the Tower and platform does not move. Its fitted with short and long springs of varied tension which brings extra resistance to work your inner core, shoulders, hips, leags and arms.

The Benefits

The springs attached to the Tower frame build strength, stability and control, requiring core engagement and a sense of focus and precision.

Spring resistance offers valuable benefits in terms of bone health, muscle strength and coordination. Resistance training in general is particularly essential for those with osteopenia and osteoporosis as we aim to stimulate bone growth and maintain bone density. Muscles pull on tendons attached to bones to help stimulate bone re modelling!

The exercises can be done in different alignments. We learn to control the movements against the pull and recoil of the springs. The benefits of working with the springs also helps to create a sense of lift and space in the body. Many people may struggle with stiffness and poor posture due to sitting , stress or muscular imbalance. The controlled resistance of the springs helps to lengthen and decompress your spine creating a sense of space, improved alignment and mobility.

Exercises done using the Reformer/Tower enables me to pinpoint imbalances and misalignments and the springs provide sensory feedback identifying areas for improvement in terms of your strength, flexibility and posture.

Building your overall strength and flexibility will help make your day to day movements like lifting, turning, pulling and pushing easier with less effort.

Mat work exercises like the ‘roll up’ can be assisted on this apparatus with the support of the roll down bar and springs, with mindful segmental spinal mobility.
