The Pilates Chair

A versatile piece of equipment originally designed by Joseph Pilates which offers a range of benefits in terms of core strengthening, balance and coordination.

It supports a wide array of exercises targeting the upper body, lower body and core. We use pushing , pulling and rotational movements allowing for a comprehensive full- body work out.

The adjustable spring resistance offers varying levels of challenge making this suitable for all fitness levels.  It is ideal for physical therapy allowing for safe, low impact movements that will be tailored to individual recovery needs.

The Pilates Spine Corrector

This is designed to support and enhance Pilates exercises particularly those targeting your spine, core and posture. Its curved structure helps in opening up the chest, lengthening the spine and strengthening the abdominal and back muscles. It is ideal for stretching, improving flexibility and correcting spinal alignment. We can use this to counteract some of  our  everyday activities  that take us ‘forward’ eg sitting, driving, computer based work, to loading  a dishwasher, cooking, cleaning and so much more….

The swan dive exercise on the Reformer

The Pilates Reformer

This is a great way to take your mat Pilates workout to the next level. Why not experience the  variety of exercises and stretches made possible using this popular and classical item of apparatus.

On the Reformer we breathe, stabilise and strengthen our back, shoulders, hips and abs  on a moveable carriage using varied spring resistance.   Come and find out how the exercises on the Reformer improve your mat based technique and how some  traditional mat based exercises can be made possible for you to do using the assistance  and support of the Reformer and Tower.

The raised Reformer is also supportive  for those individuals not able  to get down and up from the mat easily.

Osteoporosis and Bone Health

The Reformer and Tower combination is also very effective for those with osteopenia and osteoporosis as the varied spring intensities build muscle strength through resistance. The springs can be used to  ‘stretch and elongate’  creating space in your joints and length in  your spine. It is very important to maintain good posture in your mid to upper spine especially if you have bone density issues, in order  to prevent an excessively rounded upper back posture! There are many exercises we can do to sit and stand tall and maintain our length through the spine.

Cost for an individual 1 : 1 session for  1 hour  = £50            Book for 3= £140
